From Office to Party
So.... you have a Holiday party to go to; Girls night out, your spouse's work celebration, couples dinner or buffet dinner bash? Whatever the venue, it's " the most wonderful time of the year " so that means you need to show up in style! However, you've just put in 8 long hours, and this festive gathering is scheduled right after work so you don't have time to go home and change.
Not to worry, follow these tips and ideas as a guideline for putting together your last minute costume change.
1. Add a finishing touch
Think of wearing your classic pencil skirt and blouse, or simple sheath dress to the office. When it's time to change, throw on one of this seasons hottest trends, the bomber jacket over either look. Choose a dressier embellished option. Think satin, beaded, brocade or velvet to glitz it up. Bring a pair of high heels or booties to finish off the look. Viola!
2. Pack your fashionable attire for later
If your office attire is casual and you usually wear jeans, bring a dressy top to change into. Look for an off the shoulder sexy look, a beaded or sequin tank, a lace blouse, or sheer chiffon with ruffles. Denim with embellished and dressier fabrics to wear on top always looks great. It's current and youthful regardless of your age. Of course change the footwear to a dressier look. If flats are your preference, look for beaded, velvet, embroidered or metallic. A velvet bootie is right on trend, as well as a high heel pump. A statement oversized ring is always a chic accessory and a little unexpected.
3. Add a bit of bling
If you're already wearing something that's somewhat dressier such as a nice suit or pretty dress, simply changing out your accessories will do the trick. Think of selecting chandelier earrings with a little sparkle and shine, or heavily layered glitzy bracelets to make a chunky statement at your wrist. Always choose a dressier shoe or try a small cross body evening bag in velvet, beads or sequins. I prefer the small cross body bag myself because it becomes part of the outfit, not just your purse.
4. Allow your makeup to make a statement
Make up is an easy effective way to dazzle during your transformation. Simply do a red lip, always classic and gorgeous, or try a new jazzy nail polish. There are wonderful new options to choose. Some with glitter and some in metallic colors. Personally I love a smoky eye. Darker liner, and darker shadow. However a lighter paler look in silver, metallic pink or dusty nudes looks great. And don't forget to try all the new false eye lash options! I swear by them to open up the eyes and define our most expressive feature.
